Scores of devotees throng RVM foundation Shiv Mandir on Maha Shivratri

Like every year, the auspicious day of Maha Shivratri was a splendid day to cherish at the RVM Foundation Shiv Mandir. The joy was two-fold as it fell on a Monday (February 20, 2012); and as is known Monday is considered a special day for Lord Shiva.

The Maha Shivratri celebrations commenced from 6.00 am on Monday February 20 and concluded at 4.00 am on Tuesday February 21. It was almost 24 hours of spiritually soothing experience for the faithful who visited the temple in huge numbers. The citizens of Bangalore witnessed one of the longest queues oOld Airport Road, all eagerly waiting to enter the RVM Foundation Shiv Mandir to offer prayers to Lord Shiva on the day dedicated to him.

The devotees irrespective of their caste and religion joined actively in the celebrations at the Mandir. There was Shiva Aarti every two hours and a special Maha Shivaratri Jagran Show, adding vitality and zeal to the celebration. A special Prasad was distributed to devotees from midnight onwards.

For the last 17 years, the RVM Foundation Shiv Mandir has been a landmark in Bangalore city. The Shiv Temple has become a truly spiritual destination, not just for devotees in Bangalore and in South India, but also for devotees from all over the country and across the world. The temple is considered to be the abode of faith where dreams come true.

25-foot Shiv Ling Unveiled

For the devotees and admirers of Lord Shiva, there was a fantastic spiritual gift a couple of days prior to the Shivratri. A 25-ft Shiv Linga Gate to the Shiv Mandir was unveiled. Several craftsmen, workers and volunteers worked day and night for three weeks and more to build the unique entrance to the temple. This one-of-a-kind entrance fulfilled the desire for a mega-abhishek for the devotees who were blessed with the joy of witnessing the nonstop flowing of milk over the gigantic Shiv linga. The milk abhishek continued for 24 hours.

CD Release of RVM & Anuradha Paudwal

It was a proud moment for the RVM Foundation, when the long-awaited bhajan CD of RVM and Anuradha Paudwal’s singing dedicated to Lord Shiva was released on the auspicious day of Shivratri. The ‘RVM Shiv Bhajans’ sung by Anuradha Paudwal and RVM comprises nine bhajans, the lyrics of which are composed by RVM himself.

Overall, the flurry of activities made Shivratri at the Shiv Mandir memorable and filled with ardor and zest.
